What the BR 412 is in Train Sim World 7

DB BR 412 ICE 4 is the Deluxe headline in Train Sim World 7 and the most requested German train in the series. Siemens-led sets entered service in 2016 as Deutsche Bahn’s later-generation Intercity-Express, built to replace older IC and ICE diagrams. The sim models the 12-car and 13-car formations. It does not include the short seven-car set. The train layers onto Bahnstrecke Nürnberg–Würzburg as extra high-speed traffic, not as a reskin of the Standard ICE 1.

Deluxe and Ultimate editions include ICE 4 plus five days of early access from 10 September 2026. Full launch for every edition is 15 September 2026. After that date, Free Starter owners can buy the loco as an add-on paired with the Franconian route. During the early window it arrives only with Deluxe or Ultimate. Standard German high-speed traction without this cab is the BR 401 ICE 1 on standard locomotives.

Train Sim World 7 is single-player. Other ICE, regional, S-Bahn, and freight trains on your diagram are AI. There is no shared cab.

ICE 4 first look

12-car and 13-car sets

The 12-car set is the long K3-style formation. The 13-car set is the longer K4-style working. Dovetail split the extra Nürnberg–Würzburg ICE diagrams evenly between those two lengths. A 13-car ICE is a station-throat problem as much as a speed problem. Nürnberg Hbf and Würzburg Hbf want earlier braking than a BR 440. Treat the first ICE 4 run as a length drill, not a race.

The desk is a later-generation ICE cab. PZB and related safety systems default on if you leave that setting enabled. Livery Designer is not supported on ICE 4. If a 13-car consist stutters on PC, drop draw distance before you drop the Medium preset. Notes sit on graphics settings and system requirements. Handheld owners should not open this cab as a first-hour test; that is a desktop job.

Thirty-two extra ICE services

On Nürnberg–Würzburg, Deluxe adds 32 ICE passenger services between Nürnberg Hbf and Würzburg Hbf, split evenly between 12-car and 13-car variants, plus extra AI appearances at Nürnberg and Fürth. ICE 1 remains in Standard. ICE 4 does not overwrite those older diagrams. You get a second generation of high-speed traffic on a timetable that already mixes S-Bahn, RE10, and Vectron freight.

Sit a BR 440 RE10 or a BR 442 S-Bahn turn before you take a 13-car ICE 4. Corridor speeds and the Würzburg and Nürnberg throats are easier to learn at regional length. Getting started is the onboarding spine. Skip ICE 4 until door and PZB drills are muscle memory.

Players who own Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg–Ingolstadt can take ICE 4 onto that railway through a post-release extra timetable that also uses the updated ICE 1 and BR 442. That layer is not a fourth core route. The designed job in Train Sim World 7 is still the Bavarian corridor on Nürnberg–Würzburg.

Scenarios: Point Break, ICE Skates, Then and Now

Three Deluxe scenarios ship with ICE 4.

Point Break puts a BR 412 into freezing temperatures that wreck signals and points. You are driving a long ICE through winter infrastructure failure, not a clean high-speed dash.

ICE Skates is a cancelled regional express that forces unusual ICE 4 stops. Treat it as a station-call puzzle: you cover work a BR 440 would have done, with a train that does not like short platforms.

Then and Now is a display working that runs parallel with an ICE 1 toward Nürnberg. It exists to show both generations on the same metals. Drive it after you already know the corridor so the parallel ICE 1 is flavour, not a distraction.

Route-included scenarios on Nürnberg–Würzburg still use Standard traction. ICE 4 does not steal those briefs.

How this cab sits next to the other cores

If you bought Deluxe only for ICE 4, still finish one Yorkshire stopper on Airedale & Wharfedale and one Florida passenger on Florida Tri-Rail so the rest of the sim does not feel like a tech demo of a single white train. The trains hub is the catalogue index for Standard and Deluxe cabs together.

Do not open ICE 4 as your first Train Sim World 7 cab unless you already know PZB. Leave beginner controls on until the desk is familiar, then switch to immersive handles. ICE 4 without Nürnberg–Würzburg still has Free Roam value on other German high-speed add-ons you already own, but the diagrams, the 32 extra services, and the three scenarios live on that Franconian main line.

Buy Deluxe for the later-generation desk and the extra ICE paths. Drive ICE 1 if you skipped Deluxe. Drive the 440 if you want to learn Germany first.
